XRP has slipped below the $1.40 level and this wasn’t a quiet move.
Price dropped from around $1.44 to $1.39, cutting through a support zone that had been holding for weeks. The sell-off came with strong volume, which makes it harder to dismiss as just noise. What’s more, the breakdown completes a descending triangle pattern that had been forming for months, and that typically leans bearish.
Now the situation has flipped. That $1.40 level, which used to act as support, is starting to behave like resistance. Momentum indicators aren’t helping either—MACD has turned negative, and RSI is sitting in the mid-40s, drifting lower.
At the same time, Bitcoin dominance has pushed above 60%, which usually signals money rotating out of altcoins. That kind of backdrop makes it harder for XRP to bounce on its own.
What needs to happen next
Right now, XRP is hovering in a tight range between $1.38 and $1.39, basically catching its breath after the drop.
The key level is obvious: $1.40. If buyers can push price back above that—and do it with convincing volume—it would start to invalidate the breakdown. A move beyond $1.43–$1.45 would strengthen that case and reopen the path toward $1.50 or even $1.55.
But until that happens, the pressure stays on the downside.
Immediate support sits around $1.37. If that level gives way, the next area to watch comes in around $1.32–$1.31. Some analysts are even pointing to the $1.29–$1.30 zone as a broader cycle floor, lining up with the lower Bollinger Band.
There’s also a more short-term trigger level in play. Around $1.38 is being seen by some as the last line before momentum picks up again to the downside. If that breaks cleanly, the move lower could speed up.
So in simple terms: reclaim $1.40, and things stabilize. Lose the current range, and the downside opens further.
One mixed signal
Interestingly, not everything is lining up bearish.
Even with price under pressure, XRP-linked investment products have reportedly seen fresh inflows—somewhere in the $15M–$25M range over the past week. That doesn’t cancel out the technical damage, but it does suggest that bigger players aren’t exiting across the board.
It’s more of a divergence than a reversal signal—for now.
Why some traders are looking elsewhere
Moves like this are pretty typical during rotation phases. When Bitcoin dominance rises, altcoins tend to lag on the way up and fall harder when key levels break.
Even if XRP recovers to $1.50 from here, that’s only a single-digit percentage move. Not insignificant, but also not the kind of upside many traders are chasing in a volatile market.
That’s part of the reason attention starts shifting toward earlier-stage projects during these periods.

But, as with any early-stage project, there’s a clear trade-off. The upside can be larger if things work out—but execution, adoption, and liquidity after launch are still big unknowns.
